Silence

Adapted from Adele Calhoun's book, Spiritual Disciplines Handbook

  1. Begin with 5 minutes. Add additional minutes as you feel ready.

  2. Set a timer. This helps you forget the clock and settle in.

  3. Intentionally place yourself in the presence of God and become quiet.

  4. Open your heart to God.

  5. Notice what thoughts, desires and needs come up.

  6. Try to stay connected to the presence of God.

  7. Ask Him to meet you in your needs.

  8. Thank Him for meeting with you, and practice again daily.

Feel free to bring a simple scripture to this practice to meditate on during your silence practice. For example Psalm 37:4
